International women’s day
This International Women’s Day I’m excited to celebrate my main female inspiration ~ my Mum! Meet Diane…
A consistent & positive force in my life, she reminds me to be kind, strong & forgiving. A mother, an aunt, a foster mother, a Grandma, a friend, a teacher & a volunteer. Here are just a few ways she inspires me & others around her…
She encourages people to explore the world & experience new cultures; I’ll always remember the amazing stories she tells of her travels. In 1970, she was in her early 20s when she travelled the ‘hippie trail’ across Europe, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan & India by bus.
She highlights the importance of community by surrounding herself with uplifting people of all ages. She has raised a large family - 1 boy, 4 girls & foster siblings - & encourages us to be as equally strong-minded & independent. As well as cementing the importance of work & earning her own money.
I asked my Mum what being a woman means to her & why international women’s day is so important… ‘Women hold up half the sky. Being a woman is joy. It’s important to celebrate women & also to raise awareness of women’s issues from around the world. The hand that rocks the cradle, rocks the world.’
For the month of March, we are donating 20% of our proceeds made through our website to the charity of my Mum's choice, the British Red Cross. They are doing incredible work supporting the people of Ukraine, helping Refugees, many of whom are women & children, flee from their homes.
