You have this amazing space outdoors that you think would look even better with a splash of colour.

It sometimes is hard to design your outdoor space, you want a classy look while also creating a warm environment where you can spend those warm spring evenings or summer mornings with your bowl of granola and a coffee.

If you’re anything like me you love walking around with no shoes on but it does get a little cold on your feet sometimes when you’re outside. That’s why we love indoor outdoor rugs.

There are many outdoor rugs on the market at the moment that do serve a purpose of creating an indoor homely vibe outside in your garden.

The only thing with a rug that is kept outside all the time is that it can get rather dirty and the rug is normally pretty hardy, like a matt.

Indoor outdoor rugs provide the middle ground, rather than keeping it outside all the time they’re best kept inside when the weather is bad and then easily repurposed to your outside living room when the sun is out.

This makes indoor outdoor rugs the perfect purchase for your next indoor outdoor project.

Indoor Outdoor Rug Styles

Grey

Grey Indoor outdoor rugs are a great choice to create that natural and boho vibe in your garden or inside space. If you happen to have lots of colourful furniture in your garden then a grey indoor outdoor rug could be a great option to balance out the colours.

Grey as a colour is also fairly dark which allows for a couple of accidental spillages that sometimes can happen on those summer evening bbqs that keep on going until the early hours.

Black and White

A black and white indoor outdoor rug can be a nice contrast to add into your garden. The greens that are forever present in a UK garden work really well with the black and white and can truly transform your outdoor space into a unique alfresco livingroom.

Alternatively using your black and white rug inside can be the cornerstone of your space. Pretty much fitting in to any colour scheme you can’t go wrong with Black and White.

Green

A green indoor outdoor rug is also a great choice. Adding a touch of subtlety to your outdoor living area, it blends right in with a grassy vibe and adds that extra bit of warmth to your patio area.

Using your green rug inside then magically transforms your living room or conservatory into an indoor outdoor haven. The green acts as the grass and makes you feel as though you’re out in nature.

What do I need to look for in an indoor outdoor rug?

A couple of things are important for you to look for. You need to get the balance of comfort and durability. If it’s too comfortable and soft like a shaggy rug it doesn’t normally offer durability and can damage fairly easily becoming dirty and worn.

On the other side, because you are also using the rug indoors you don’t want the rug to be too rough, like a doormat.

The colour of your indoor outdoor rug is also important. We would advise you to opt for darker colours or patterns. This is to stop the rug looking too dirty. It is inevitable that your rug will get worn, when using it outdoors it’s prone to people walking on it in shoes as well as a higher chance of spillages. Therefore selecting colours that almost hide a few scuffs and spillages will make your spaces look classy for longer.

How big is an indoor outdoor rug?

Rugs come in all shapes and sizes. It depends on the spaces in which you are going to keep it. We recommend going for a large indoor outdoor rug as this can be a centrepiece for your garden or living area.
