Choosing your luxury cushion
A luxury cushion can make a great decor accent to any home. Take a look at the ideas and brands above for some inspiration and below for the various different types of materials, styles and inners you can look out for.
Why choose luxury cushions?
There is no better way to decorate your already stylish home than with a selection of luxury cushions to scatter on the sofas and beds. You can pick from a range of lavish colours and textiles that compliment your colour scheme. Let’s take a look at some different ideas to find the perfect cushions.
Luxury Cushion Materials
Luxury cushions can only be created using luxury materials. One of our favourite materials here at Woven Rosa is Alpaca fibre. One of the softest and most highly sought after materials in the world, an Alpaca cushion can really make your sofa extra luxurious and comfy. The fibres are fine yet hollow which make them a great insulator. Another luxurious material is sheep wool. Not quite as soft as alpaca fibre however is more commonly used in many traditional weaving cultures that make many luxury cushions.
Silk is a material that you may find on your search for luxury cushions. A textile that has been deeply entwined in many cultures for hundreds of years. The unique softness makes a silk cushion a great addition to your bed.
Luxury Cushions Filler Materials
There are many materials you can use to fill your luxury cushions with, from microfibre inners to stuffing cushions with rags, various cultures use different materials. If you are looking to fill your cushion cover with a quality martial it has to be duck or goose feather. The feel of a feather cushion is like nothing else, the weight and the softness is unrivalled and has to be the choice of luxury cushion filler.
Luxury Cushion Colours
The colour of your cushions can have a profound effect on the overall style of your living space. If you go bold and bright and something that doesn’t quite match the decor of your opulent room then you risk the overall look.
Adding a couple of similar coloured cushions to your sofa can add the depth you needed while at the same time not compromising the overall luxury of your space. Try adding neutrals like grey and black, particularly if they are made using natural alpaca fibre. A purple cushion here or there can also give you a splash of luxury.
Types of Luxury Cushions
Luxury Velvet cushions
Velvet is a material that is often associated with expensive items and grandness. A velvet cushion will add an air of softness to a sofa and invite you in. It creates a feeling of quality while also not sacrificing comfort. Velvet is a type of martial that can come in many colours however a dark velvet cushion for example, blue, green or purple can really transform a dull living space into a palace.
Tasseled Cushions
A cushion sporting a few tassels on its edges or corners screams luxuriousness. If you are trying to create a middle-eastern vibe or draw inspiration from Moroccan and other north African styles then a tasselled cushion may fit in quite nicely. Look out for colours on this one as you will have to make sure the tassels match the cushion and they both match the sofa.
Printed Luxury Cushions
Although you would normally look for at the material of a cushion if you were seeking quality, there are options for a more aesthetic angle for luxury. Printed cushions designed by either luxury brands or designers are a great way to unify a classic space to the present day. Look out for unique cushions with one-off prints.
