Illary Frazada
Our Illary Frazada (Rug) originated from the breathtaking highlands of the Sacred Valley region of Peru. Here weaving is life and skilled artisans are determined to keep their heritage alive by passing down their ancient knowledge to younger generations.
The Illary, meaning rainbow in the native Andean Quechuan language, is the perfect way to inject colour into your space.
Our artisans spend weeks and sometimes months creating their artwork which is handwoven on back-strapped looms. Each loom roughly measuring 1 metre wide (depending on the arm span of the artisan) which creates frazadas with a similar width, the larger pieces are constructed by joining two together. The array of colours that are used in Andean textiles are all sourced from the earth, different colours tell different stories that reflect their culture which can be traced right the way back to the Inca’s.
All of the rugs are unique works of art and one of a kind pieces. This is why we love every single one of our pieces that already have so much history woven into each stitch, we can’t wait to see where their adventure takes them next and for you to create stories of your own in your home.
Everything has been sourced for a fair price directly from the communities where they were made.
